The Southern Transdanubia Regional Innovation Agency Nonprofit Ltd. is a partner in the FIRECE CE1131 INTERREG CENTRAL EUROPE project. The main objective of the project is to increase regional capacities for managing energy plans, with a special focus on local resources, which will facilitate investments in renewable energy sources for the industrial sector, including SMEs.

FIRECE focuses on two pilot projects, the first aimed at developing innovative financial instruments , the second dealt with monitoring completed or ongoing energy efficiency investments implemented by SMEs and, if necessary, writing new applications.

Why would it be necessary to create an innovative financial instrument?

The number of SMEs in Hungary reaches 718,000, which shows the potential for energy savings in this area. However, the majority of companies are micro or small enterprises, which are very sensitive to macroeconomic changes and are extremely vulnerable. The aim of the study was to map the needs of SMEs and the challenges they face in the field of energy efficiency.

The FIRECE project will end in September 2020, so this month's focus was on dissemination activities. DDRIÜ Nonprofit Kft. organized four events to present the results to the widest possible audience, two online and two in person. A total of 43 people participated in the four events.
